First of all i wanted to say thankyou for this post because it has helped me a lot ever since i discovered it.
But there’s one thing that keep bugging me.
I’m a student majoring in architecture and i’m in my 2’d year (4th semester). I’m actually never interested in architecture before i got in university (i failed to get into medicine). And i kinda always doubt myself can i do it or not because i don’t have any skills that my friends already have, and every end of the semester, everytime the marks for our project came out, i never got an ‘A’. i always got ‘B’ from my mentor whereas my friend got an ‘A’ so easily.
Should i continue this major? or should i just discontinue this? because i feel really down right now and confused. i feel like i have give it my all.

I was depressed even before starting college but it’s been kicking on my face every time I don’t finish something. Why is it like this? I feel like I’ll fail my Design course all because I can’t submit it in time. Time Management is something I keep on trying to do but I just don’t get how. My professor never gave me a passing grade in any of my projects. He just states requirements but never teach us how to do it. When we do something wrong, he’ll be like, “I taught you this” though the second he finished writing the requirements on the board, he’ll be in his office doing his own work. It’s so depressing that you spent so many nights for that particular project but your professor seem to hate you so he always give you a failing mark but student close to him he give a passing mark. I’m not the kind of student that will try to even befriend a teacher that does not teach properly. I have no respect for that teacher as I paid for tuition in this course and the teacher will just give requirements and scale and that’s it. I might as well be at home commanding myself then. The worse is, some of the student make other people do it and since I have no architect in my family, no one can help me. Everything is futile in architecture. I just wished that there’s a real ‘teacher’ out there. I love architecture and am willing to learn anything. But when you’re taught nothing but this, it’s just a mental breakdown waiting for you.

I am Ernest, a first year architecture student in the university, and I’m very thankful for having sharing your advice with us. I count myself very lucky to have come across this article which I must admit has inspired me alot. You talked of momentum and made me want to ignite the spark in me about the field. I would be extremely grateful if I could get more advice and motivation from you. Is there a way in which I can subscribe to such? Thanks in advance.
